More Beautiful You

Hey guys and gals. I mentioned a few weeks ago that we were going to release my song, “More Beautiful You” to Christian radio. Well, that time is here! So as stations across the country begin to spin (nice rhyme huh?) my single, I realized something. Some new faces are going to start popping up on my sites (jonnydiaz.com, facebook, myspace). So, let me be the first to say “hey!!” I’m so glad you’re here. I also wanted to post the lyrics to the single. I know they are listed elsewhere, but I thought I’d put them here too!

More Beautiful You

Little girl fourteen flipping through a magazine
Says she wants to look that way
But her hair isn’t straight her body isn’t fake
And she’s always felt overweight

Well little girl fourteen I wish that you could see
That beauty is within your heart
And you were made with such care your skin your body and your hair
Are perfect just the way they are

There could never be a more beautiful you
Don’t buy the lies disguises and hoops they make you jump through
You were made to fill a purpose that only you could do
So there could never be a more beautiful you

Little girl twenty-one the things that you’ve already done
Anything to get ahead
And you say you’ve got a man but he’s got another plan
Only wants what you will do instead

Well little girl twenty-one you never thought that this would come
You starve yourself to play the part
But I can promise you there’s a man whose love is true
And he’ll treat you like the jewel you are

So turn around you’re not too far
To back away be who you are
To change your path go another way
It’s not too late you can be saved
If you feel depressed with past regrets
The shameful nights hope to forget
Can disappear they can all be washed away
By the one who’s strong can right your wrongs
Can rid your fears dry all your tears
And change the way you look at this big world
He will take your dark distorted view
And with His light He will show you truth
And again you’ll see through the eyes of a little girl

Can you tell me the names of the band members that worked with you on this song? I just heard it for the first time on radio and remember my daughter did some sessions with you. I was wondering if this was one of the songs she worked with you on. Her name is Cara Slaybaugh (plays cello).

By the way…the song was beautiful. I can’t wait to hear it again. May just have to see if I can purchase the download! Can’t wait to hear more of you.

hey Vicky… good to hear from you. Cara played with me for a live showcase last year. She did an amazing job! She, however, didn’t play on the recording at all. Maybe in the future though?!?!

I just want you to know what a perfect song this is. My daughter just turned 15 and has struggled because she doesn’t look like what she thinks she is “supposed” to look like and this song was exactly what she needed. I can not thank you enough. What a blessing this was released when she needed it most. She now knows she is beautiful just the way God made her. From a mom, thank you!!!! God Bless you!!!

Thank you for such an impactful song! I am the mother of three girls and love when the truth is boldy spoken, whether in a song, from the pulpit or a book. I don’t know how many times young girls and women have bought into the lie that the world would have them to believe. I just finished a great book by Nancy Leigh DeMoss, “Lies Women Believe and the Truth that Sets Them Free. It is excellent. Once again, it is really good to have a song playing on the radio that will touch many with God’s truth. Keep putting more songs like that out there.

This song has impaceted my life because the first time i heard it was when i was alone in my room crying desperately…ive gone to church all my life but for some time during my senior year in high school i had been feeling as though i had been heading the wrong direction so many mistakes and failures that i had made and even though i knew id mess up id do them over and over, so i felt useless for quite some time and i felt like given up… id always find myself crying and wishing that i could be a little girl again…so innocent and pure. When this song came on the Radio i began to cry more… the words were so true and related to my situation so well. i realized then that it was not too late to turn my life around and change who i had become…i was not to far and i could start over again. And God could let me see things through the eyes of a little girl….as i had wished for. Thanx alot….God Bless You!!

    Hi Jonny,
I will NEVER be able t o tell you how much this song has blessed me. I have always considered myself a daughter of the King but I have never thought of myself as beautiful. I have known in my head that Jesus loves my but never felt it in my heart. This world puts so many expectations on us women that I felt I would never be able to measure up. I am belssed to say that after 26 long uears of waiting, God has brought me the man I am going to marry. The line in your song “But I can promise you there’s a man whose love is true
And he’ll treat you like the jewel you are” really belssed me because I have spent countless night crying myself to sleep thinking I would never be good enought for my Knight to come sweep me off my feet. Well, Jesus is so faithful to be the lifter of my head and has given my the desires of my heart! All I can say about your song is that I wish it has come out sooner!!!

I am a girls Junior Varsity soccer coach (aka mom, counselor, medic, teacher) I only listen to KSBJ Houston and when I heard your song last week it brought tears to my eyes. I can see each of these little girls in this song especially our seniors that are leaving. Public high school is so extremely broken and the lack of GOD is so evident everywhere. We are having our end of year soccer banquet on the 23rd and I’m planning to read (sorry can’t sing :0 ) the lyrics to the girls at the banquet. Hope they understand. Can’t wait for the next release!

I was driving home the other day and heard this song on the radio. I started tearing up and had to write down all the lyrics I could remember so I could find the song later.

Well, here I am. Thank you so much, Jonny, for allowing God to speak through you. There are a lot of girls in my youth group who are struggling with body image and chasing after the things of this world. God’s been doing a lot in them recently and they’re being set free which is so amazing, but the battle is always there. I believe this song will bless them incredibly and can’t wait to share it with them.

Thank you, and please, just keep loving Jesus more and more. So good.

    Jonny,
I heard this song for the first time when I was on my way back to school with my mom from Easter weekend. My boyfriend of three years broke up with me (which may sound very “teenager” like), but I will be graduating in a few years, and we had talked about marriage in the new future.
Your song came on right as I was crying, and I heard the words:

“Little girl twenty-one the things that you’ve already done
    Anything to get ahead
And you say you’ve got a man but he’s got another plan
Only wants what you will do instead”

I just want you to know that you were the answers to my prayers that day! I realize that God has a plan for me, and while I may think that it hurts now, if I continue to serve Him it will be rewarding in the end. There is a man out there for me, but until we meet I need to focus on my relationship with God.

Thank you for your service to the Lord, Jonny. God Bless.

    Jonny,
This song is amazing. As a now 21 year old, I recently went through a time where I struggled with my self image. I then began to ask myself….
I can’t doubt myself, because the Lord made me who I am. I am beautiful just the way He made me :) I can honestly say, it was tough. This song impacted me so much. It reminds me of how beautiful we all are in Him. It’s so great! Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful song!

Just wanted to thank you for a lovely song. I heard it for the first (and second!) time today on my local Christian station. It made me think of Steven Curtis Chapman’s song “Fingerprints of God”. As the mother of two young daughters, I am already trying to mentally prepare myself to walk through the pain of puberty with them. It’s survivable but sadly can leave behind some ugly scars. God bless you for standing up for God’s truth.

I heard this song yesterday in the United Kingdom via a radio link online. I rushed to write down some of the lyrics and look up the song title. I sat and wept at how beautiful it is. I must have listened to it a dozen times before going to church last night, thinking to myself how many girls/women I know who need to hear this song. At church, there was a prayer request from a young lady in the audience for her friend in the United States with anorexia. I’ve already sent her the links to listen to this amazing song. God works in amazing ways and I’m so grateful that you allow him to work through you.

Jonny the firsy time I heard More Beautiful You I just dropped my 13 year old daughter off for school I cryed and cryed. She is so going through chasing the world. She has proclamed Jesus and salvation. But all her actions would make you think otherwise. Now she is wanting to leave my house and move in with her dad which is not in church or saved. So at this time I am going to give her to God and pray she is saved and maybe someday she will turn around. On a lighter note I want you to know you have a beautiful voice and I am so glad you chose to use it to glorify God. Thank You so much or your work.

It’s nice to turn on this song and be reminded that when I screw up to try and fit in that all I need to do is get down on my knees and pray to God because I know that He loves me and will forgive everyone of my mistakes. I heard this song on the radio a few days ago. As I was listening, my mouth fell open and all I could do was cover my mouth with my hand in awe. I feel like this is the story of my life so far. When I was 14 I fell into the trap of anorexia. I was tired of feeling overweight and never good enough. I DID buy the lies and jump through every hoop to be whatever I thought anyone else wanted me to be. Now seven years later, I am twenty-one. I am finally recovering from my eating disorder, no longer starving myself. I am turning around, looking to Jesus to take on all my fears and sit next to me, drying my tears as I cry. God really is changing my distorted view of myself, and I’m really excited about that.

Hi. I just want to say that as I listened to this song for the first time tears came to my eyes. It was as I was looking into a mirror of my past. Until that moment I had not realized how God had worked in my life and broken chains such as the ones in your song. I began modeling at 14. I broke away from that suffocating world and today I dont even worry about wether I’m wearing make-up or fit into a size 6. But, the words in this song, brought me face to face with what I once did with my life and what God did in me. I really had not asked God for forgiveness for my past life style and I was not grateful his grace and mercy on me. I allowed God into my life and He rearranged everything according to His design. Today I want to thank you for doing the same…submitting to His design and allowing Him to work through you.

This song is like God speaking to me audibly, especially that my past regrets and shame can disappear and be washed away & how He’ll take my dark distorted view and show me the truth instead.

I have always taken care of myself and taken pride in my appearance so these transformations to my appearance have been very hard on me. Your song reminds me though that Christ living within me is whats important and not my looks. The timing on the release of this song could not have been better for me personally. Through this journey God has walked with me and taken care of me every step of the way! Thank you for blessing me with this song.

God has given you a great gift, and I’m glad you’ve chosen to share it with all of us. Good job. Keep up what you’re doing and I pray that the Lord will bless you and us with many more songs and albums to come. Blessings!

I love this song!! It makes me cry everytime I hear it. My father was not the dad he should have been. A few months ago he was found guilty and sentenced to spend the rest of his life behind bars. For sexual abuse. I strugled not only with what had happened to me, testifing, forgiving, my own self worth, but also that when he admited what he had done to me he got 8 years probation now he is found guilty of the same thing with two boys and gets life. I just felt like “why are they worth more than me”.
Hearing your song I felt like the father I should have had was talking to the little girl I once was. Thank you.

I want to say that I heard this song for the first time the other day on our local Christian radio. Wow! What an inspiration! First I thought about myself and my life and how I wish I had someone who would have spoken so much truth and love into my life to help me not make the many many stupid mistakes I made. But- mostly my husband is the youth pastor in our church and I am there with him and the kids.. I have grown to love these kids so much and this song will DEFINITELY be shared with the young girls that we work with. The public school system they go to, is broken, and so worldly, they need to hear truth and know the love of Christ at a young age so they don’t go down the road so many of us have. That is why I work with the youth, I want to help them become secure in Christ and who HE made them to be. This song says it so well. Thank you so much for this song!! May God bless you richly and immensely in your career for the future! I hope to hear much more from you in the future! Blessings!!!!

Your song More Beautiful You is exactly what so many young girls need to hear. I try to tell my 18 year old this stuff but it seems to fall on deaf ears but when she hears it in a song it seems to speak life into her. I have shared it with her and pray it will impact her life the same way it has many of your other listeners.

I’ve been watching your video on YouTube that explains how to play “more beautiful you”, however a couple of parts where a little hard for me to understand because I’m new at playing guitar. Is there anyway you could describe what your doing or say how you play the cords because some chords I play differently and am not sure how you play them…

As girls we feel like we have to preform for others (especially guys) We have to look a certian way talk a certian way and be just like the CG models we see in the checkout isle in Walmart. It is encouraging that there are guys out there who care about the inside. Thanks so much, Keep up the message of hope!

    Hi Jonny.
I wanted to let you know that this song touched me so deeply, I play it over and over again on my itouch. Last year, I came to the Lord a broken girl. I felt so worthless and I really hated myself. I was finding my value in the way men treated me and I had really been trading my body for approval, the good feelings came and went quickly and every day I woke up feeling more empty than the day before. I struggled with Anorexia and Bulemia and I was getting so sick when God touched my life. I have found heeling in Him and now, one year later, I am healthy. I have not struggled with disordered eating behaviors in over a year and I know that my Savior created me and that I am beautiful in His eyes. I also know that there are a lot of girls out there struggling with what I wnent through, I hope this song touches them as it does me. It still makes me a little teary eyed and I listen to it everyday (I still need some reminders that I am beautiful!) Romans says Jesus Christ bought us at a high price, so we must honor him with out bodies. I pray that your song speaks to those girls out there who sometimes forget that. Thank you so much and God bless you!

    Hi Jonny.
I came to your website for the sole purpose of giving you some encouragement for this song, but obviously I’m way behind the curve on this one :)
While I listen to Christian radio very often, many of the songs aren’t very unique or are overplayed. It isn’t very often that I fall in love with a song just from hearing it on the radio. Your song truly TRULY hits home for me, as I’m sure it does for thousands of other girls. Not only is your song encouraging for discouraged girls, but it is a much-needed reminder that life is worth living! Unfortunately, this message is SO needed for teen girls in our society. and I LOVE that you remind us that God is waiting for us to live it FOR HIM.
Truly, truly inspirational. I involuntarily want to cry every time I hear it. Keep up the good work.

WOW!!! this is amazing…you are truly gifted. Amazing message, the song is beautiful. It really speaks to what I have been thinking about lately, all of us young women need to realize that we are beautiful, God created us and all things God creates are beautiful, we don’t need to be fake to be beautiful, don’t need to let go of our standards to be excepted. I can speak from experience, just two months ago I came so close to giving up some really important standards and I still sometimes feel guilty about it. This song is amazing, awesome work, keep it up! :) Peace in Christ,

Hey Jonny, I just heard your song for the first time about a week ago. I ended up crying because I have always struggled with feeling beautiful. But it made me realize that the way God views me is so different then the way I view myself. That when I believe the lies the world sends out, God never views me any different. And that He loves no matter what I do. The line that really speaks to me is “you were made for a purpose that only you can do.” I think another struggle is always comparing yourself to others and not realizing that God created you to be yourself and not anyone else. Thanks for writing this amazing song! God Bless

I first heard it on JCTV along with the video and it just touched me so much. i made a note with all the lyrics on my facebook and told all the girls to read it. Now that i think about it, the guys should read it too because i think they would understand alot more of the image the girls always feel they have to fit into. Mr. Diaz,
As the father of a 15 year girl who just last week told me she doesn’t like her hair or her looks, I think that the message in your song could not be more timely for me and for her. I’ve told my daughter that God made her the way she is for a reason and, the fact that she is now wanting to date, she needs to be happy with herself and not try to change who she in order to make someone else happy. Thank you and keep up the great music. I’ll be downloading your album from iTunes for her iPod and mine tomorrow.

    Maybe it’s just cause im 14 and…

Girls fat and ugly aint his type and thats why he wont date me..
Well She told me this and I was on a website and somebody told me to listen to this song…
I really think people should start listening to this song more..
Well Since that day I listen to this song every time I feel down..
It makes me realize God has put me here for a reason and reminds me I am beautiful…
I want to let one of my friends listen to this song but I know she wont..
Her boyfriend that she dated for a while dumped her…
Im just gonna have problems with convincing her to listen to it cuz its different from what we listen to..
    But I liked it..
Well My question is how do you convince a girl thats been told her whole life shes ugly and fat that shes not fat or ugly that she is beautiful and perfect in Gods eyes??
Ohh and I love singing and I wanted to get another person to sing with me and sing this song..
How do you get on the stage and not be so afraid and nervous?

My 19 year old darling, precious, creative, smart, funny, kind, loving daughter was diagnosed with anorexia at 13….her eating disorder started at age 11. It has been a nightmare, and the fight of her(and my) life. Even today, I was coaxing and praying her through another meal. This is such a complex illness, with physical, psychological, and of course spiritual causes and components. I pray with all my heart that other girls will hear this song and know deep down that they are loved perfectly just as they are by God, who created them. I cry every time I hear this song. It seems to be speaking directly to my daughter, her illness and life experiences. Please pray for her.

I just had to write you about a funny thing about your song. You know when you hear a song and maybe you can’t make out the lyrics and somthing other than what the artist wrote is what you end up singing….? Well, this is what I was singing for your chorus:
THere could never be a more beautiful you
The father of lies, disguised as hoops your made to jump through….

Then I found your blog here and I was totally wrong! But in a weird kind of way..very true! A god inspired, truth confirming mistake. Please, don’t feel bad! What an inspriation for young people.!

Second, Reading through some of the notes left…what a world. Prayers go out to you all…Thank God He is God!

Lastly, I am a recovering cutter (curable?) and wonder alot about purpose. I made my decision when I was 8 and remember it very well. But, same old story of sex/emotional abuse fog alot of my thinking and I wonder about being able to really hear God through all the clouds. I’m 35 years old and never dated (well one guy but I think he was gay). Feeling the depression and anxiety of my life it seems there’s never any time for a social life. So how do I know where my life is heading, what do you do to get out of a rut and how do you/I determine what are voice in my head(self), or God’s voice. I test them and mostly they seem right but I haven’t figured the “lost” feeling out yet.?

Just want to Thank You again on the song. I know how it’s touched my life, my family’s life and several of my friends’ lives. I pray God and His peace be with you! ajp

We do talk a little bit about it, but it has been a matter of reaching her to understand where my concern was coming from. I was unable to find a way or words to let her know about the beauty within her is what really matters. Your song has given me a way to reach that understanding. Your song truly is a gift from God. She loves music and I know she will listen to the words carefully. I will play it for her and see what her reaction is and will write back soon.

I am twenty-six years old, and I still struggle every day with my physical self-image. Men have done about everything to me a man can do, and many times I have had no one to blame but myself for allowing myself into those situations. Every time I hear your song on the radio, it brings tears to my eyes. And while I will openly admit that my faith is a daily struggle and that there are many times that I wonder if sometimes I’m in God’s “blind spot,” this song encourages me that maybe this is true:

So turn around you’re not too far
To back away be who you are
To change your path go another way
It’s not too late you can be saved
If you feel depressed with past regrets
The shameful nights hope to forget
Can disappear they can all be washed away
By the one who’s strong can right your wrongs
Can rid your fears dry all your tears
And change the way you look at this big world
He will take your dark distorted view
And with His light He will show you truth
And again you’ll see through the eyes of a little girl

Thank you for what you’ve done with this song.

It is never too late to change; moreover, it is never never too late for God to change you. I never really stuggled with body image until now in my mid- twenties, so it helps not only teenagers, but us older girls! Thanks for reminding me that ‘the one who’s strong’ can right my wrongs. God has used you to bring a message so many women are in need of — whether 14 or 40. It brought me to tears and left my 65 year old mother speechless when I shared it with her because of how it so directly spoke to struggles I’ve had with body image since I was a teen and the perspective of myself she has always wished I could have. May God continue to use you and bless you.

Jonny thank you for writing this song. I am 25 years and this song has been my life. I was teased growing up at school, and my parents have treated me like I didn’t fit in their idea of a “perfect family.” I have reciently have had a guy that is interested in me for me and I didn’t feel like I deserved him. God has been showing me through this song that I do deserve someone as wonderful as him. Thanks for the reminder that “I am God’s Beautiful Child.”

Hey! I am 20 years old, and I LOVE this song! the first time I heard it, I was sitting in my car out on a deserted gravel road, with a gun in my hands. I was going to take my life. when I was a little girl, I was molested by a family member, and a couple months before I heard this song I was raped by my fiancee. Like the words in your song, “he had another plan” it devastated me. I am now 6 months pregnant. That evening out in my car, with the gun, I felt as though I had hit rock bottom. I felt ugly, and dirty. I felt as though no one loves me for who I am as a person. But your song along with Gods grace and mercy spoke to my heart, and gave me the strenth to put down that gun and live my life like I’m meant to live it! I still have to work through alot of issues but I know that I have a God who loves me and thinks that I am beautiful! I know that I am “meant to fill a purpose that only I can do!” Thank you SO much for this song!! It truly is annointed of God!! :)

I think it is so important for young girls to hear this message. The first time I heard this song I feel in love with it. It uplifted me so much. Whenever I hear these words I just remember that God is always here for me and I am already beautiful in his eyes. Thank you for producing such a beautiful song.

Jonny, I love this song!! The first time I heard it, I cried. Being 6 ft. tall and going through high school with nicknames such as Sasquatch and Chewie doesn’t exactly boost one’s self-esteem. What girl wants to be called hairy and ugly? This song made me realize that God truly thinks I am beautiful and that He is always there for me, through thick or thin or right or wrong. He will “Rid [my] fears and dry all my [tears]” and has changed the way I “Look at this big world”. These words are so true and so beautiful. Everytime I feel down, I just put on the song. Sometimes it brings tears, others it doesn’t.

    Thank you and God Bless.

My daughter Noemi Dias Moron is 13 1/2 and was caught in the school bathroom throwing up, and lost around 9 pounds (that I know of). I don’t know if you ever heard about “parental alienation”, but that’s what’s going on with her. Her father won’t allow me to have any contact with her. If you can, please remember to pray about her. I’m trying to make this “problem” public because it’s so prevalent and destructive. The lyrics to this song were inspired by God.

    Thanks you so much,

    Noemi’s mom

When I heard this song, I felt like it was written for my youngest daughter who is going through a self-destructive phase in her life. The lyrics seem to speak exactly to how she feels about herself, and how she has been living because of that. I am going to buy this CD and give it to her, and pray that God will speak to her heart when she hears this song. I pray for her everyday and do everything I can to help her, but she has to realize things for herself before she can turn around. Please pray for her.

    Dear Johnny,
Last night I saw you with MercyMe and Fee in Ft Walton and you were fabulous! Love your songs – all 3 :) The Opener is too funny. Anyway I was so moved by More Beautiful You and posted a link on my Blog and sent e-mails. I’m totally new to blogging and just wanted to make sure it was ok if I posted a link to your video, some of the lyrics, and a picture I took last night. If there’s a problem I’ll remove them.
I am confident that God will use you and your music to reach millions of lost, hurting people and glorify His Son through you.
    Stay faithful.
    Sincerely,
    Martha Grant

thanks so much for everything. for letting God use you to help all the women in the world who have heard this song, for helping me go out side of my shell and sing a solo (maybe), and just doing such awesome things. i hope to see you in southern wisconsin soon!

with this song, I am learning. my best friend told me to google “more beautiful you”, I did. I listened and I loved the song… so beautiful.. then he had me read the lyrics. I cried, something I haven’t done for myself. Thank you so much for being you! God bless.

The first time I heard this song, I burst out in tears. I absolutely love this song and it’s such a great reminder to me that I am beautiful just the way I am. I don’t need a guy’s approval or a friend or magazine to tell me how I am suppose to look.

Everybody has imperfections. We should all look at it as our own uniqueness. This song is beautiful. And someday a guy will see me as a jewel and treasure the moments and make me feel worth it.

I cried out all the hurt i have kept hidden inside because of the past regrets in my life. My view towards a lot of men are hateful and bitter but I know that God will heal my broken heart and see me the way I am and accept me for who I am. And someday I will be able to let the hurt walls down and the right guy for me would treat me better because I deserve better because I’m worth it.

All the lonely nights and late night cryings will disappear and I will smile a real smile and know that I am beautiful and there’s no one just like me. I am strong, , beautiful, friendly, determined and passionate and someday, someone is gonna see that in me and love me for it. I’m going to keep moving on and look ahead and know that there is hope and love for the broken-hearted. I am not alone….

Thanks for the song. God bless you

Hi, I am way behind the times in sending this, but still wanted to thank you. I heard this once on my local radio (KCMS) in Seattle, and immediately gifted it to my then 10 year old daughter. You know what though? I’m not sure who it touched more, “little girl 10, or “little girl (then) 39″. Either way…great song. I am excited to learn about the rest of your music. Blessings.

beautiful. It made me tear up my Friend sent me this song and I listened to it and I am 22 years old and it reminds me of the girl i use to be before I was saved and gave my heart to the Lord 100% almost 8 months ago. It’s nice to hear it from a Man because growing up most males make girls feel like they are not beautiful enough. But we are all wonderfully Made by our Creator.

I actually have my own ministry I am artist and an poet. Maybe you’d like to check out my blog. Oh I just posted your song on my blog today because I think it’s so important for other girls to read it.

Just want to say “Thank you!” from so many girls and women around the world. Not to mention from the parents who need support in leading their children into a Godly life style in today’s more and more worldly ways. And last, as you know, girls and women need to be reminded that there are Godly men out there who want a pure women! And, this is from a girl who was lost in her teens to so much pressure from boys and men to do what she didn’t want to do… Now, I am a mother of two gorgeous girls and I want nothing more than to let them know it is only worth being theirselves. Build a relationship with God first, because when he leads your life, you are bound to find “true love!” I appreciate this song more than you know :)
